Friday, Aug. 29 - I 've had a busy couple of days. Tonight I launch this campaign blog.
Every few days I'll give you an update from the campaign trail. When I'm elected I plan to
offer the same type of dialogue and analysis of county issues.
Thursday I attended the special meeting of Legislature for the vote on reducing it from 19
legislators to 15.....more

Sunday, August 30 - Spent some time at Johnson City Field Days. The weather
was outstanding today and the event well-attended. I began distributing my newly
printed palm card. Response was good. It seemed the event was even more local
than I imagined. Almost everyone I spoke with was from JC. I thought going in
there would be a broader crowd....more
Labor Day - Everyone in Binghamton took another hit today and Broome County
has one more thing to be concerned about. Effective today the water rates rose
again. This is part of the 81% increase in water rates under Matthew T. Ryan. Don’t
let them tell you it is because historically rates have not risen, either. Over the last 7
years Binghamton rates have gone upon 127% compared to New York City's 77% .

Wednesday, Sept. 10 - Another day of door-to-door campaigning late this
afternoon today. Taxes seemed to be the biggest concern as usual. In the news
yesterday there was a good example of how NOT to implement a public
project....more
Thursday, Sept. 10 , 9/11-
No campaigning today. Instead we had 28 volunteers from the Broome County
United Way's Day of Caring to look after. Many thanks to those people from
Levene, Gouldin & Thompson LLC, United Health Services and Johnson Controls for
all their help today.
Wednesday, Sept. 17 I spent my fourth day going door-to-door up and down the
hills of Johnson City. Today, among others, I had an interesting discussion with a
well-informed, activist couple, both Democrats. It is refreshing to find people who
can think beyond party lines
Thursday, Sept. 18 - Today campaigning had to wait while I listened to Joseph
Sluzar, Broome County Attorney, on gas drilling and County Executive Barbara
Fiala present her 2009 Budget proposal....more
Monday, Sept. 22 - Yesterday I was out in Prospect Terrace, Town of Dickinson,
the issue on people's minds was their recently arrived increased water bill. One
senior woman on a fixed income was wondering how she would pay the bill and
what could be done about them. I suggested speaking out to all her elected
officials and the news media with the hope of delaying the increase to $2.99/100
cu.ft. units in Aug. '09
Today I attended the presentation of the 2009 budget for Joint Sewage
Treatment Plant. Things will get worse, much worse. ....more
Sunday, September 29 - I spent this weekend up on Reynolds Road in Johnson
City in the Indian Ridge and Dellapenna Park areas. We got into some long
discussions on two main topics, dissolution of Johnson City and the Sewage
treatment plant....more
Tuesday, September 30 -Happy Rosh Hashanah. Shana Tova!
This evening I postponed the door-to-door campaigning to attend Town of
Dickinson Supervisor and County Executive candidate Mike Marinaccio's
fundraiser at McGirk's.
Thursday, Oct. 2 - People are worried out there.
Today I tried to spread some optimism to some discouraged and concerned
residents. On another note, finally today after more than two weeks we learned
that the Binghamton-JC sewage treatment plant sent raw sewage into the river
for six hours. That plant has to be taken over by the county....more
Tuesday, Oct. 7 - BCC Debate. What a busy day!!! It started at 3:30AM with a
prior commitment to drive round trip to Syracuse airport. I returned home, tried
to sleep for a couple hours, went to work for a few hours . I then decided the
best way to get into a debating frame of minds was to go door-to-door for a little
while and engage with voters. Then it was on to BCC...more
Thursday, Oct. 9 My first mailing hit the District 12 mail boxes today and
yesterday. I dealt with the topic of Broome County taking over the
Binghamton-Johnson City Joint Water Sewage treatment plant. You can view it
here.
Friday, Oct. 10 - Tonight I got a Presidential endorsement, sort of, you can view
it here. I also went back to Radio Talk show host Tony Russell 's door. Turns out
I was there last night, he didn't tell me who he was but discussed it on his show
the next day....more
Sunday, Oct. 12 -Advertisement ran in Press & Sun-Bulletin "View-point"

Wednesday, Oct. 15- I reached a milestone today. I have personally handed
out about 1900 copies of my first palm card, none are left. I have been to every
door myself. I thank you all for your input & time.
If I have not been to your home or neighborhood, I apologize. Contact me & I'll
make a point of getting there. Thx.
Friday, Oct. 17 - I attended the almost three-hour Sewage Treatment Plant
Meeting at the downtown BU Center meeting along with 60 to 65 other people.
Interestingly my opponent in Legislative District 12 did not attend...more
Thursday, Oct. 23 - So busy these days I can barely keep up. My blogs are
running late. My new mailer began arriving in mail boxes today. It features a
photo my grandfather in his shoe shop in the '20s. It focuses on the need for a
new Square Deal...more
Monday, Oct. 27 - The Press & Sun-Bulletin has finally caught up on the cost
overrun at the treatment plant...more
Wednesday, Oct. 29 - As expected, with only a few days to go in the campaign
my opponent has gone negative. He mentioned past, highly publicized allegation
in Canada but doesn’t mention they were dismissed. This has been the topic of
on-line discussion for six years…more
