Wednesday, Oct. 29 - As expected, with only a few days to go in the campaign
my opponent has gone negative. This is his usual pattern, the same one that has
caused him to lose five elections in 12 years In a mailing he mentioned past,
highly publicized allegations in Canada but does not mention they were dismissed.
(thrown out before trial).
This has been the topic of on-line discussion for six years. Those of you here
on-line have probably read the same things on Pressconnects.com and
BCVOICE.com.
The strange and controversial incident of a newspaper trying to silence a reader
has even been included in a book about Montreal, Montreal: The Unknown City by
Kristian Gravenor.
My critics like to bring up these allegations again and again. They always use that
same single newspaper clipping. They never mention the charges being
dismissed. They never have anything more to offer but the clipping.
In fact, the charges cited by the newspaper itself would not even be allowed
under US Freedom of Speech First Amendment Rights. Even in Canada this was
not well received and the Editorial Page Editor, a guy named Hadekel, who signed
the complaint against me, was fired two weeks later by the new Publisher of The
Gazette, Larry Smith, almost as soon as he arrived. That part never makes it into
the story.
I'm reminded of the lyrics of the John Mayer song, "Waiting on the World to
Change":
And when you trust your television
What you get is what you got
Cause when they own the information, oh
They can bend it all they want
Given that Mr. Moran has not really campaigned and met voters, nor advertised,
not offered any information about himself, doesn't have a web site, has very few
signs out and has lost twice running for Town of Dickinson Supervisor, lost twice
for highway superintendent and once as Town Councilman, all in the last 12 years
he probably does not have much choice but to use such a misleading negative
attack.
I trust the voters to see through the misleading, last-minute ploy of desperation.

I would be interested to hear what Democrats think of their Party and candidate

The 1100 or so people I have spoken to personally at their homes know my
campaign has always been about issues. They have heard next to nothing from
my opponent about issues.
As one woman on Lower Stella Ireland Road told me tonight, "They just cannot
stop that stuff can they..."
No, Ma'am, apparently they cannot.
